Problems Accessing MAST Maps Online?

We know that sometimes people have problems accessing the eSpatial web server where the MAST Mapping application sits.  The most common error is if you click on the link and you get an error page, often saying something like ‘server unknown’.  This normally means the site is being blocked by a local firewall and you may need to ask for permission to view the site.  Your local IT team should be able to help with this.

If you click on the link and it takes to you to a screen like the one below then it’s not a firewall issue and you should be able to logon using the username and password we emailed you.  The logon details are not the same as your MAST credentials and the password changes every few months.

Once you have sucesfully logged on it will take up to a minute for the first map screen to load which will be a view of the British Isles.  If it takes longer than a minute to load then there may be a problem with your internet connection speed.  You can find out your broadband speed by visiting a site such as www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk.  It’s the download speed that affects your ability to view the maps and any speed less than 1Mb/s may impact on your user experience.

If you are experiencing any problems we would like to know.  Please fill in the form below giving as much detail as you can and we will ger back to you.
